How to Clean, Oil & Repair your fans - buy parts online less than $1
with proper maintenance, most fans will last for 30-40 years.

( fan has a safety device-thermal fuse, if fan is overheated above 135 degrees, the thermal fuse will be broken and disable the fan from working ). suggest rest the fan after 4-5 hours usage. Dirty fan also blocked the airflow and can cause the fan to overheat.  Help SAVE the Earth - (3R) Repair, Reuse, Recycle.
Cleaning and Oiling the fan at least ONCE A YEAR reduces friction in the motor and moving parts and will ensure best       performance and prevent breakdown. If your fan is making unusual noises or operating less efficiently, it may be a sign that it requires oiling.  Dust and grime accumulated can affect the fan's performance. Use a damp cloth or a big soft brush or duster to clean the blades, motor, and any visible parts. One common fault that the fan shaft is NOT moving or turning is a sign that need oiling. It will also result in "burnt smell" and noisy fan.

take pictures of fan parts before disassemble them so that you can  reassemble back later.

3 Common Fans Problems  ( ensure your electrical plug fuse is OK )
   1. fan shaft NOT moving
(manually turn the fan shaft - if unable to move,  confirm shaft problem - need oil lubrication) - if fan shaft still do not move after oil lubrication, most likely thermal fuse broken.
   2. fan dead - thermal fuse blow (change thermal fuse) -
ensure fan shaft is able to move by manually turning
   3. fan rotate slowly - capacitor faulty (change capacitor).

1. How to oil the fan shaft  - using Singer Oil (green bottle) $1-$1.50 from any HDB shop.

-  to oil the fan shaft - just removed the fans cover and fan blade ( watch the video on how to oil the shaft ).   You just need to oil the front shaft. if the front shaft still do not move after oiling, may need to oil the back shaft too. Ensure that your fan shaft is able to turn smoothly.

        2. Thermal Fuse Replacement - common fault when fan is NOT working ( buy online 10 qty $4 )
another common fault of fans is the thermal fuse or "sensor" which will stop the fans from moving.  Ensure that your fans is NOT overheated or above 135 degrees. try to limit fan usage every few hours. Purchase thermal fuse that is 135 degree Celsius or same spec as old thermal fuse.

another easy method is to bypass the original thermal fuse by joining the new thermal fuse to A and either B or C(capacitor) as in the above diagram.  Ensure thermal fuse is connected correctly to either B or C of the capacitor otherwise fan shaft turn anti-clockwise (you need to test to find out. normally to the left of the capacitor).  try to insert the thermal fuse "head" into the motor coil.

     3. how to change fans capacitor (purchase online about 60-70 cents)
how to solve fan blade that turn slowly and etc - probably fan capacitor problem.  Try to use the same capacitor spec such as 1.0uf, 1.5uf and etc
